Yangarra Ironheart Shiraz 2020

Yangarra Estate is more than a star on the rise, it is a star that is shining as brightly as any producer in Australia. Acquired by Jackson Family Wines in 2000 and renamed Yangarra Estate, this beacon of quality from Mclaren Vale has amassed a plethora of impressive awards in recent years. In recent years Yangarra Estate has been awarded:
James Halliday's Wine Companion: 2 x Wine of The Year awards (2019 & 2023), Winemaker of the Year (2016), #2 Winery in Australia (2024)
James Suckling's Top 100 wines of the year: #1 Australian Wine of the Year (2023)

Ironheart is the flagship Shiraz from our single vineyard estate in Blewitt Springs at the northern edge of McLaren Vale. The vineyard’s northern aspect, higher elevation and sandy ironstone soils produce Shiraz with immense concentration and finesse.

Hand picked and fermented in open-tops replete with 30% whole berries, albeit, no bunches; 21 days on skins. Blackcurrant, raspberry, mint, anise and lilac. No aggressive punch downs or pump overs. This is a refined wine boasting a meander of sinewy tannins, like a songline across the palate. It doesn't play any cards not dealt, the inherent freshness derived from organic principles and impeccable fruit quality, glimpsing a southern Rhône-style, despite the variety. 95pts James Halliday's Wine Companion (Now - 2032+)
