La Spinetta Timorasso 2023

Staff thoughts - Timorasso was almost extinct but was brought back in its homeland of Piedmont. Fabulous structure that supports citrus and floral notes and has excellent length.  Rob MWS

Wineries thoughts -  Timorasso is an ancient indigenous grape variety of Piemonte. Grapes for our 2023 vintage were grown in the villages of Montemarzino, Montegioco and Monleale. The vineyards face southwest and southeast at an altitude of 350-400 metres. The soils are marly, calcareous, clayey, and contain some sand.

The grapes are destemmed and softly pressed, followed by alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled small steel tanks. The wine rests on its fine lees for eight months, then is filtered and bottle-aged for a further three months before release.

The wine shows an incredible structure and longevity, with delicate citrus and floral notes that harmonise beautifully, leading to a vibrant, long finish. – La Spinetta

Critics thoughts - The 2023 Timorasso is an attractive, expressive white from La Spinetta. Proprietor Giorgio Rivetti and his team crafted a Timorasso endowed with generous tropical fruit, spice and floral notes. Soft contours, unusual for Timorasso, add immediacy. This is sure to be a crowd-pleaser. 92 points. Antonio Galloni, Vinous
